Happened to find this place by doing a Facebook search for afternoon tea in Monmouthshire.
I booked an afternoon tea for 4 and asked for an ammendment and it was no problem at all.
We were very impressed with the amount and quality of the food. 5 varieties of sandwhich, homemade quiche, sausage rolls all with generous garnish. This was followed by scones with jam and cream, cream and fruit topped meringue, sherry trifle, victoria sponge, fruit cake and coffee and walnut cake. plus endless pots of tea.
There was so much we were unable to finish, so it was boxed up to take home. Although it was very busy, the staff were calm and very friendly. Definitely worth the visit.
Thank you.
We just happened notice the sign on the side of the road/lane and stopped by on our motorbikes for a rest and ordered a pit of tea for two along with warmed welsh cakes and coffee almond cake. Very traditional tea service on a tray pot of tea, jug of milk, sugar cubes in bowl along with a jug of hot water (we had 2 cups of tea each with the additional hot water) all brought to our table with a smile and the cakes were delightfully delicious.
The staff were super friendly and informed us that they're only open from Wednesday to Sunday for a traditional Sunday roast dinner with bookings being advisable.
Our pot of tea and cakes cost us £7.50 which is why we call in again. The Red Castle tea room also cook hot food on the spot as three hungry men ordered cooked breakfasts as we placed our order.
It's a really delightful peaceful country side establishment with plenty of parking space for cars and motorbikes in separate areas.
Overall it is a gem of a place and a gem to just happen upon like a secret tea room in the middle of the countryside. Also they've been open for 10 years.. Amazing!! 😁
We left happy as Larry and continued on our way to Hereford.
This is such a lovely tearoom and everybody was very friendly. They make a very tasty leek and mushroom tart and they are happy to be flexible about swapping things around on the menu eg chips instead of bacon. The views from the outside seating area are amazing. Great place to have lunch and then visit White Castle, just down the road.
